What We Believe
As a congregation, we stand upon the truths set forth in God’s inerrant Word, the Bible. We believe that “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16).
Our doctrine is defined by the Scriptures, but is outlined well in our Confession of Faith (the London Baptist Confession of Faith of 1689).
Full Subscription to our Confession
As a detailed summary of the doctrine taught in the Bible we fully subscribe to the London Baptist Confession of Faith of 1689. While the Confession is not equal to or above the Scriptures, it provides us with assistance in controversy and serves as an instrument of edification and instruction.
The 19th-century Baptist preacher, Charles Haddon Spurgeon, once commented on the 1689 Confession,
“This ancient document is the most excellent epitome of the things most surely believed among us. It is an excellent, though not inspired, expression of the teaching of those Holy Scriptures by which all confessions are to be measured. We hold to the humbling truths of God’s sovereign grace in the salvation of lost sinners. Salvation is through Christ alone and by faith alone.”
